Environmental and Resource Efficiency Project
Maintaining high environmental and safety standards across our supply chain is a key priority for Lidl. In 2017, in collaboration with the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), Lidl developed and launched the PURE training programme. The initiative promotes sustainable environmental practices and enhanced workplace safety standards across Lidl’s manufacturing sites in China and Bangladesh.
Driving Operational Impact Through Education
Since the introduction of the PURE programme, over 400 workers across 80 production facilities have received specialized training. The curriculum covers key operational areas, including the responsible handling of sensitive chemicals, energy and resource reduction, and improved wastewater management. Participating employees apply these skills directly within their facilities and share their knowledge with colleagues using a Train the Trainer approach.
